Mucinous Naevus: A Rare Variant of Connective Tissue Naevus

چکیده
Mucinous naevus (MN) is a type of benign hamartomatous cutaneous mucinoses characterized by deposition of excessive amounts of mucin in the superficial dermis in a diffuse pattern with absence of collagen and elastic fibres in the mucinous areas. It may be associated with features of connective tissue naevus of proteoglycan type [1]. There is paucity of literature regarding this interesting entity. We report a case of this rare benign hamartoma in a 22 year old boy who presented with a mole-like pigmented lesion on the right cheek since birth. An extensive review of literature is being discussed herewith.

Sir, Becker's naevus or Becker's melanosis is a relatively common disorder, which appears as a hyperpigmented, hypertrichotic patch located mainly on the trunk (1). Becker's naevus has been associated with various soft tissue and bony structural anomalies, such as hypoplasia of the ipsilateral breast, pectoralis major muscle, leg, arm and contralateral breast, spina bi®da, and pectus carinatum ...

Sir, Becker's naevus is a variant of epidermal naevus characterized by a single, hyperpigmented macule with increased hair growth on the shoulder, chest or scapular regions, but any other area can be involved (1). It is most common in men and classically observed during adolescence, but can be seen from birth and can also be familial. Histopathologically, there may be mild acanthosis and papill...
متن کاملBecker Naevus Syndrome of the Lower Body: One Case and Review of the Literature.
Becker naevus syndrome is a rare epidermal naevus syndrome defined by the co-occurrence of a Becker naevus with various cutaneous, muscular and skeletal anomalies. In the majority of cases, abnormalities exclusively consist of ipsilateral hypoplasia of the breast, areola and/or nipple in addition to the naevus. Here, we report on a 42-year-old woman with an extensive Becker naevus reaching from...
متن کاملBecker's naevus and breast hypoplasia: A case report
Becker's naevus is an acquired persistent asymmetrical area of skin pigmentation, sometimes showing evidence of increased androgen sensitivity, and colocalizing with other developmental anomalies. We report a 30-year-old woman with clinical findings compatible with Becker's naevus on her right breast accompanied with hypoplasia of ipsilateral breast.
